The Sky's The Limit
Investing in any new technology can be exciting but equally risky, especially when knowledge on the subject in question is limited, Cap-Ex budgets are tight and there is a plethora of conflicting and confusing advice online. As a drone service provider (we do not sell drones, software apps or accessories) our mission is to help organisations navigate through the myriad of information, providing high-performance outsourced drone programs that are fit for purpose, whilst ensuring safety and compliance is adhered to at every stage of flight operations.

ABOUT
Q - Will the weather affect flying the drones safely out onsite?

A - Yes, unfortunately most drones are unable to fly in rain or wind speeds greater than 10m/s. However, even in winter months with limited daylight, cold temperatures and higher than average rainfall, you can usually squeeze enough time up in the air to get the shots required.

Q - One of our employees has a consumer drone. Why don't we save money and ask him to fly instead?
A - It's all about risk and results. Flying drones in a commercial capacity is regulated and is something that the CAA and Police are clamping down on with heavy fines; in some circumstances even custodial sentences are possible if innocent lives are put at risk. Once someone has become certified by the local airspace regulator, accidents are far less likely to occur due to knowledge & experience of safe flying, aviation rules and regulations. Also, commercial drones with specialist software applications produce far superior images and datasets (e.g 3D Mapping,Thermal Imaging)

Q - Are drones noisy and will they cause a nuisance to the neighbours and/or general public in the vicinity?
A - Once a drone is above 50ft in the air you can hardly hear the motors spinning. Before every operation, a comprehensive pre-flight assessment should be carried out to determine what, if any, external factors are involved. DO NOT FLY within a mile of an airport, Air Force base or prison and members of the public will need to be at least 50 metres away.

Q - Can we extract the drone data obtained and export it into existing software applications we run? (e.g Autodesk, Revit, Bentley)
A - Some drone mapping applications will, some won't. Outline your current IT infrastructure to us and we will be able to help determine your options.

Q - Are we better to insource or outsource our drone program?
A - This is a question that gets asked a lot and truth be told there is no right or wrong answer. A number of factors can influence your decision (e.g budgets, in-house expertise, number of operational sites, timescales). Our consultants can help you choose a path that best suits your business and individual requirements.
